After being placed in the barriers, BEAUTY INSPIRE became fractious, reared and struck its head on the superstructure. BEAUTY INSPIRE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, BEAUTY INSPIRE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY INSPIRE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SINBA and BEAUTY MISSILE jumped only fairly. On jumping, HAPPY DAILY shifted out and away from PARTERRE. Also on jumping, FIND MY LOVE was bumped by WIDE BLUE YONDER which shifted in, resulting in FIND MY LOVE shifting in and making contact with CHARITY BINGO. FIND MY LOVE was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, MIDORI BEAUTY was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 600 Metres, MIGHTY STRIDE shifted to the outside of BEAUTY MISSILE, resulting in CHARITY BINGO becoming unbalanced when taken wider. CHARITY BINGO raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. When questioned regarding the improved performance of FIND MY LOVE, Trainer K L Man stated that at its last race start FIND MY LOVE raced on speed but failed to run out the 1600 Metres. He said today with FIND MY LOVE being further down in the ratings, he instructed M L Yeung from a wide barrier to ride the horse conservatively in the early stages to allow it to finish the race off. He said in addition FIND MY LOVE was aided by being able to secure inside runs in the early part of the Straight to allow it to finish the race off strongly. After the race, B Avdulla (MIGHTY STRIDE) reported that his mount was stirred up prior to the race. He added MIGHTY STRIDE failed to travel at any stage of the event and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY STRIDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MIGHTY STRIDE, favourite for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MIGHTY STRIDE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, K C Leung (BEAUTY MISSILE) stated that his mount travelled only fairly and found it difficult to hold its position in the middle stages. He added the horse was under pressure making the Home Turn and failed to run on from that point. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY MISSILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SINBA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MIGHTY STRIDE, CHARITY BINGO, FIND MY LOVE and TAJ DRAGON were sent for sampling.
