CHARMING BABE

On March 28th, during a Conghua turf trial over 1200m, the horse ran mid-pack with plenty in hand. A recent winner, six weeks ago it performed well over the same distance, jumping slowly but finishing strongly to take first place. One barrier trial run wasn’t sufficient preparation. Stepping up in class this time with a 16lb weight reduction, the horse has shown form over this distance and comparable times within its group; capable of tracking the leaders or setting the pace, it boasts a good draw and strong finishing kick amongst its rivals. It holds a noticeable advantage in ability compared to other contenders. Antoine Hamelin takes the ride, understanding the horse's weaknesses, although trainer-jockey synergy is limited – a hold-up tactic may be best suited.
