LUCKY EIGHT

Following a recent dirt trial on April 14th (1200m, sections of 2-2-1), the horse jumped quickly and led throughout to win. Six weeks prior, over the same distance, it delivered an impressive performance, settling back in the field before finishing with fast closing sections for second place, beaten by half a length. A subsequent barrier trial showed improvement. The horse has shed twenty pounds in body weight and will carry a two-pound deduction this race. With proven form over this distance, favorable times within its group, and potential to track the pace-setters, it could challenge. Despite a potentially weak finishing kick, an advantageous barrier draw and active training regime suggest a forward showing if it jumps cleanly and maintains position.
