Five weeks ago, this horse recorded strong times in a Conghua turf trial over 1000m (1-2-1), held back initially but showing good energy when asked. Seven weeks prior, the performance on Sha Tin turf over 1400m was poor; a slow start saw him settle towards the rear, making a mid-race effort but fading significantly to finish well-beaten. After a short break, one barrier trial showed slight improvement. Body weight has dropped by 21 pounds and another Happy Valley 1200m trial run took place recently with a four-pound reduction this time. This race requires a hold-up tactic, however the finishing kick is unlikely to match rivals. Despite similar times within the group, an advantageous barrier position and positive work are noted, but prospects remain questionable.
