Three weeks ago, this horse delivered a strong performance over a Happy Valley 1800m, showing a slow jump but settling in midfield before making a fast late run to finish second, beaten by half a length. Following that, he trialled over a Happy Valley mile and will carry only a two-pound penalty this time. He has shown good form over this distance previously and recorded respectable sectionals in his trials. The barrier draw is favorable, with the intention of settling back in the field and relying on a strong finishing kick – considered to be the best in the group. Both jockey and trainer have a reasonable understanding of the horse's capabilities and are preparing for a competitive race; however, current conditions aren’t ideal and a patient approach may be necessary.
