RISING FROM ASHES

Last run winner, two weeks ago over the same distance, performed well despite a slow jump and settling towards the rear. A steady pace was maintained but a strong late surge secured victory by one and a half lengths. This race requires carrying six pounds more than last time, drawing an unfavorable outside barrier. The trainer-jockey combination isn’t ideal; however, the horse has shown previous form over this distance and their times are comparable. Expecting to settle back in the field with a strong finishing kick as its main strength, the jockey understands the horse's temperament and doesn’t appear to have a specific plan.
