Three weeks ago, this horse delivered an impressive performance over a Sha Tin 1400m course, jumping slowly but settling towards the rear before making a strong late run with fast sectionals to finish second, narrowly beaten by half a length. Switching to a Happy Valley mile for its first attempt at this distance, it will carry only a three-pound weight increase this time. The distance appears suitable and drawing a good barrier allows for a pace-tracking strategy. It showed a strong finishing kick in its last run and the current form is favorable. Based on its ability compared to the other contenders, it’s considered a leading chance. Horse, jockey, and trainer are well-matched and the horse is responding well to training – as long as it jumps cleanly and settles into a good pace, a forward finish looks achievable.
