CHAIN OF GOLD

Five weeks ago, in a race over the same distance, the performance was below expectations; a slow start saw the horse settle back in the field before making late headway with a fast final two sections. This time, carrying four pounds less weight, the draw is unfavorable requiring a hold-up tactic. However, the finishing kick wasn’t strong enough last run and the trainer/jockey combination hasn't been successful previously. Despite this, the horse has shown form over this distance and recorded good sectionals in previous trials. With William Buick taking the ride, who understands the horse's temperament well, an improvement is expected.
