VICTOR THE WINNER

Three weeks ago, this horse ran a very disappointing race over Sha Tin 1400m. He jumped slowly and settled towards the back with a steady pace but lacked a finishing burst, beaten three and a half lengths. This is his debut after switching stables, stepping up in class for a straight course race. He benefits from a seven-pound weight reduction this time but recorded slower section times compared to rivals; unfavorable conditions overall. Trainer-jockey combination appears less harmonious. Despite potential early speed, the barrier draw is reasonable, and Derek Leung takes the ride with some understanding of the horse’s capabilities. Pre-race trackwork has not revealed any obvious signs of improvement.
