Four weeks ago, over the same distance, this horse performed well despite a slow jump, settling towards the rear. It showed a strong late run to finish third, beaten by only half a length. Returning from a break, it will carry 18 pounds more weight in this race with good timing within its group and drawing an advantageous inside barrier. The strategy is to settle back in the field, relying on a powerful finishing kick – the strongest in the group. This horse holds a relative strength advantage over the other competitors. Hugh Bowman takes the ride, gaining some understanding of the horse’s capabilities, and the trainer has confidence in the jockey. Training has been vigorous and a strong performance is expected.
