On December 29th (dirt trial 1200m, running in 2nd, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively), the horse showed good stamina. Four weeks ago, it ran below expectations over a Happy Valley 1200m, with a slow jump and settling towards the rear. It maintained a steady pace but made a late effort. The margin of defeat was only two and a half lengths, finishing seventh. A recent barrier trial indicated slight improvement. Returning to Sha Tin turf over 1200m this time with a one-pound weight reduction, it has previous form over this distance. Its sectional times are comparable with the competition and it should be able to track the leaders. The horse is expected to press forward, enjoys a favorable draw, and the jockey has some understanding of its capabilities. Trainer and jockey have confidence in each other; provided it jumps cleanly, a forward placing is achievable.
