Two weeks ago, this horse recorded a strong dirt trial over 1200m (sections: 2-2-1), settling well and accelerating to win after being urged slightly. Three weeks ago, in a straight course race, the performance was poor, tracking the leaders with a steady pace but lacking a finishing surge. He finished beaten two and a half lengths. A subsequent barrier trial showed improvement. Making its Happy Valley debut over 1200m, the horse carries no additional weight this time and has the potential to track the pace-setters. Drawing a favorable barrier, with a trainer/jockey partnership that appears to be working well and in good form, despite the unfavorable distance, a clean break should see it contend for a forward position.
