Four weeks ago, over the same distance, this horse ran very well, settling towards the rear with a consistent pace throughout. He made up some ground in the final stages to finish second, beaten by half a length – a narrow defeat demonstrating good ability. Moving up in class now, he benefits from a 15-pound weight reduction and has shown form over this distance previously with respectable times. His late finishing kick is the strongest in his group; the jockey understands the horse’s temperament well, trainer/jockey combination is solid, and the horse continues to improve in condition, remaining competitive for a place.
