NEVER TOO SOON

Two weeks ago, this horse ran impressively over a Sha Tin 1400m, settling back in the field and making a strong mid-race move before chasing strongly down the straight for fourth place, finishing respectably only two and a half lengths behind. Dropping back to Happy Valley over 1200m this time, it’s a first attempt at this distance and will carry 14 extra pounds. The shorter trip is not ideal and the sectionals are challenging, resulting in a slightly unfavorable setup. An unfavourable barrier draw is offset by the potential for a hold-up strategy; the horse boasts the strongest finishing kick in the field, and jockey/horse combination appears to be well suited, despite limited opportunities.
