On 28/4, the horse ran a dirt trial over 1200m (5-6-4), staying on the outside and struggling to close. During a race around three months ago, he performed excellently; although slow in getting out of the gate and running towards the rear, he maintained a steady pace throughout, managed to regain some lost ground in the final stages, chasing down to secure second place. Fortunately, he wasn't far behind. In a recent trial run, his performance was mediocre. Stepping up in class, the horse has won three of ten starts, and his time figures remain acceptable. The draw is not poor, his finishing kick in this group is strong, and the overall assessment places him near the top of the field. The jockey is familiar with this horse, and preparations are serious; he is considered a contender for the win.
