September 25th (Dirt trial, 1200m: 9-9-7). Moved out gradually from the three-wide position and tracked the pace. Four weeks ago, this horse ran respectably over 1400m on Sha Tin turf; he was slow getting out of the gate and settled back, maintaining a steady pace throughout before making up some ground toward the finish. The trial was encouraging on paper. Running over a mile on dirt this time, he carries two pounds less weight. He has shown ability in this trip and has the best time in his group. He can compete near the front, and his finishing kick is the strongest in his field. Based on overall assessment, he ranks among the front runners for this race; despite a poor draw and an unremarkable partnership between jockey and trainer, he should be considered for minor places.
