Shortly after the start, MASTER MASTER was checked and stumbled when crowded for room between SEA TREASURE which was taken out slightly by SUPREME DRAGON which in turn was carried out by VINCERE and DECAGONAL which shifted in. At the 1700 Metres, MASTER MASTER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of DECAGONAL. Also at the 1700 Metres, BIG WINNER, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up. Approaching the 1300 Metres, MASTER MASTER, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out away from the heels of DECAGONAL. Near the 1200 Metres, FOREVER RICHES was hampered and carried wider by PALETTE THE BEST which at this time was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of MASTER MASTER which when continuing to prove difficult to settle shifted back in slightly. After the 1200 Metres, SAMBUOYANT, which had been racing wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward. Approaching the 1100 Metres, MASTER MASTER was carried wider by DECAGONAL which at this time shifted to the outside of ELEPHANT DANCE. After this, MASTER MASTER raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race and for some distance DECAGONAL raced wide and without cover. Near the 700 Metres, SEA TREASURE was checked to avoid the heels of VINCERE which itself was checked to avoid the heels of SHINING DAY which when giving ground shifted in while awkwardly placed inside the heels of ELEPHANT DANCE which was carried in slightly by DECAGONAL (G Mossé). The Stewards were satisfied the manner in which SHINING DAY was racing contributed to this incident, but nonetheless G Mossé was advised to exercise greater care. On straightening, DECAGONAL was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPREME DRAGON which commenced to give ground and ELEPHANT DANCE which shifted out. PALETTE THE BEST and SHINING DAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PALETTE THE BEST and SHINING DAY after the race did not show any significant findings. SAMBUOYANT and FANTASTIC GUY were sent for sampling.
