RISING WIN was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, TALE OF FRIENDSHIP failed to muster speed. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, HELLO GIBRALTAR jumped a shadow. Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUPER POWER was steadied when crowded for room inside SERIOUS PLAY which at this time was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL ECHO which itself was steadied away from the heels of TIMBER CITY when that horse was shifted to the outside of HELLO GIBRALTAR after being crossed by that runner when barely clear. Near the 1300 Metres, RISING WIN was steadied when momentarily tightened for room inside SUPER POWER. Shortly after straightening, TIMBER CITY, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of BULB TREASURE which shifted out to obtain clear running. Approaching the winning post, HELLO GIBRALTAR became unbalanced. Throughout the race, STRIKE TO WIN, which had been ridden along to go forward, travelled wide and without cover. SUPER POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. STRIKE TO WIN and TALE OF FRIENDSHIP were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER POWER, STRIKE TO WIN and TALE OF FRIENDSHIP after the race did not show any significant findings. BULB TREASURE and SERIOUS PLAY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported NATURAL ECHO had lost its right hind plate and had sustained a cut to its left hind cannon.
