NEVER LOOK BACK was slow to begin and then lost further ground when bumped by OURAJA. On jumping, FULL OF JOY blundered. In the early and middle stages, ONE WORLD proved very difficult to settle, on a number of occasions got its head up and at the 900 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. At the 700 Metres, GALLANT LION, which was racing keenly, was steadied away from the heels of SURVEY SURVEY while racing tight outside NEVER LOOK BACK which was making the turn awkwardly while proving difficult to settle. BRILLIANT CHAPTER, which was following, became unbalanced when being steadied and shifted out away from the heels of GALLANT LION. For some distance after this, NEVER LOOK BACK continued to race awkwardly close to the heels of FULL OF JOY. Passing the 500 Metres, GALLANT LION, which was continuing to race keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SURVEY SURVEY. On straightening, OURAJA was bumped by MASTER POWER which shifted out to obtain clear running. For a short distance after straightening, SURVEY SURVEY had difficulty obtaining clear running. FULL OF JOY, NEVER LOOK BACK and O'REILLY RALLY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FULL OF JOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FULL OF JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, NEVER LOOK BACK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of O'REILLY RALLY after the race did not show any significant findings. BRILLIANT CHAPTER, REGENCY DRAGON and SURVEY SURVEY were sent for sampling.
