FORTUNE DRAGON was withdrawn on 8.5.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PACIFIC ALLIANCE, which was restless in its stall and was being assisted by an attendant, had its head turned when the gates opened and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. AMITYSHIP began awkwardly and lost ground. BERNINI was slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, WINBO proved difficult to settle. Near the 1100 Metres, CRUSH ON YOU became unbalanced and lost ground when tightened for room inside AMITYSHIP which was carried in slightly by SMART CODE. Near the 300 Metres, when commencing to give ground, BERNINI became unbalanced when bumped by LIVERBIRD. Throughout the race, DASH travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. The performance of DASH was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DASH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINBO and CONNOISSEUR’S LOVE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WINBO and CONNOISSEUR’S LOVE after the race did not show any significant findings. GO DAN GO and AMITYSHIP were sent for sampling.
