OSVALDO was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, VIGOR DELIGHT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TUSCAN SPIRIT proved difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of DUMBARTON ROCK. Near the 450 Metres, OSVALDO shifted out of its own accord and became awkwardly placed close to the heels of OPERATION SECRET. Near the 200 Metres, JAMESINA and OSVALDO raced at close quarters due to both horses shifting ground. For some distance after the 200 Metres, OSVALDO and JAMESINA raced tight between INTERCHINA STAR (M Chadwick) which shifted in and REALLY HAPPY (M W Leung) which near the 100 Metres shifted out. This resulted in JAMESINA being checked near the 100 Metres and OSVALDO being steadied. In the circumstances, both M Chadwick and M W Leung were advised to ensure they make every endeavour to keep their mounts straight. Throughout the race, OPERATION SECRET travelled wide and without cover. NOBLE CONQUEROR and DUMBARTON ROCK were sent for sampling.
