On arrival at the Start, it was noted that there was continuous bleeding from the mouth of CALIFORNIA MEMORY due to a cut to the tongue. CALIFORNIA MEMORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CALIFORNIA MEMORY. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA MEMORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MY HOME TOWN got its head up when being steadied and shifted in, resulting in GRAND DANCER, which had been ridden along to improve its position, being crowded for room. After the 1300 Metres, DEPOSER jumped a shadow on the track. Over the concluding stages, VIGOR DELIGHT raced in restricted room between BULLISH CASH and MY HOME TOWN. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LITTLE DREAMS, D Beadman stated that the horse was fractious in the barriers and consequently was slow to begin. He said despite this LITTLE DREAMS was able to obtain a good position and travelled well throughout the early and middle stages. He said rounding the Home Turn he expected LITTLE DREAMS to show its usual turn of foot, however, the horse came off the bridle and thereafter finished off the race only one-paced. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE DREAMS, GRAND DANCER and HAPPY TUMBLER after the race did not show any significant findings. LITTLE DREAMS, MOONWALK and DEPOSER were sent for sampling.
