VALUE CHOICE was slow to begin and then failed to muster speed. At the entrance to the Straight, FIERCE FORCE was momentarily held up behind INFALLIBLE CHOICE. LUCKY ARMY was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, KING CREOLE was steadied to avoid the heels of FIERCE FORCE which shifted out to improve. Approaching the 200 Metres, KINGSTON MARBLE was bumped by FIERCE FORCE which shifted out. Throughout the race, WHITE DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. After the race, D Whyte reported that INFALLIBLE CHOICE commenced to hang in when giving ground. A veterinary inspection of INFALLIBLE CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CARISSIMA had lost its left hind plate. FIERCE FORCE, NOT QUITE PERFECT and NOBLE VISION were sent for sampling.
