EXCITABLE BOY began very awkwardly and lost ground. HYPERSONIC and SKY MASCOT were slow to begin. After the 800 Metres, SKY MASCOT commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TURIN PEARL. Passing the 500 Metres, EXCITABLE BOY was checked away from the heels of GLAMOROUS HONOUR which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LYRIC ACE when held up for clear running behind that horse. GLAMOROUS HONOUR continued to be badly held up for clear running behind LYRIC ACE until after straightening and then near the 300 Metres was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse when shifting out. Rounding the Home Turn, SKY MASCOT got its head on the side and hung out and then in the Straight continued to lay out and proved difficult to ride. Near the 100 Metres, EXCITABLE BOY was shifted out away from the heels of BOULD MOVER which got its head on the side and lay out under pressure in the Straight. Throughout the race, TURIN PEARL travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SLICK BULLET at the request of Trainer C Fownes. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SLICK BULLET will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BOULD MOVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HYPERSONIC and TURIN PEARL were sent for sampling.
