GOLDEN GUNNERS was withdrawn on 4.4.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LIGHTNING AND GOLD (O Doleuze). Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN GUNNERS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LIGHTNING AND GOLD was slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was taken across behind runners in the early stages. LUCKY BOLE began only fairly. MR AWARD shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with SUCCESSFUL LEADER which in turn shifted out and bumped CHANS DELIGHT which became unbalanced. At the 500 Metres, CHANS DELIGHT became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUCCESSFUL LEADER. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, BERNARD’S CHOICE and LAUGH OUT LOUD raced tight as BERNARD’S CHOICE attempted to shift out from behind MR AWARD into clear running. Then passing the 400 Metres, BERNARD’S CHOICE was shifted out across the heels of LAUGH OUT LOUD to obtain clear running. FRESH AIR was held up for clear running until passing the 300 Metres. MR AWARD and FABIO travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. MARK TWO, LAUGH OUT LOUD and HIT THE BID were sent for sampling.
