PROSECCO was crowded for room on jumping between SUGAR SUGAR and OVERSUBSCRIBED which shifted out. In this incident, SUGAR SUGAR became unbalanced after being bumped by PROSECCO.
UNIVERSAL CROWN became badly unbalanced at the start when crowded for room between MR FUN and FLAMING PASSION which shifted out. In this incident, MR FUN became unbalanced. UNIVERSAL CROWN was then shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Also from a wide barrier CHILL WAY was steadied on jumping to obtain a position closer to the rail.
At the 1100 Metres, RATTAN KINGDOM and SUGAR SUGAR bumped and became unbalanced as a result of both horses shifting ground. Then making the turn near the 1050 Metres, RATTAN KINGDOM and SUGAR SUGAR again bumped as RATTAN KINGDOM shifted in away from FLAMING PASSION which got its head on the side and lay in away from MR FUN despite the efforts of its rider. RATTAN KINGDOM was then steadied to obtain cover.
After the 900 Metres, DRAGON STAR was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 700 Metres, CHILL WAY commenced to travel keenly and was steadied away from the heels of PROSECCO which for some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres was very awkwardly placed behind OVERSUBSCRIBED. Then near the 650 Metres, CHILL WAY, which was continuing to travel keenly, improved into very tight running inside the heels of PROSECCO.
Passing the 300 Metres, RATTAN KINGDOM was shifted in away from the heels of MR FUN to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped NOIR RIDER which became unbalanced.
Over the concluding stages, OVERSUBSCRIBED lay in under pressure, resulting in RIGHTEOUS ARION racing tight inside that horse close to the finishing line.
After the race, H Bowman stated that after being ridden positively in the early stages from the outside barrier to obtain a forward position, MR FUN would not relax and because of this was not able to finish the race off in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of MR FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NOIR RIDER at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of FLAMING PASSION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of UNIVERSAL CROWN immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
RATTAN KINGDOM, SUGAR SUGAR and OVERSUBSCRIBED were sent for sampling.
