SUPER CARDED began awkwardly. After this, SUPER CARDED proved difficult to settle for some distance. Approaching the 800 Metres, ANTIPASTO lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside AMAZING VENTURE. STILTON, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Shortly after the 400 Metres, HORSE WIN WIN was bumped by AMAZING VENTURE (Apprentice M Chadwick) which shifted out abruptly around SUPER CARDED to obtain clear running. Apprentice Chadwick was advised to exercise care when shifting ground. Approaching the 200 Metres, SUPER CARDED (W C Marwing) was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between AMAZING VENTURE which shifted in slightly and HE CAN TANGO which shifted out. No further action was taken. In this incident, W C Marwing momentarily lost control of his whip. The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by O Doleuze, the rider of the second placegetter, GRAND DRAGON, against RIBOT LEGEND (Apprentice M L Yeung) being declared the winner of the race alleging interference near the 200 Metres. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the official videos, the Stewards found that near the 200 Metres GRAND DRAGON, which was attempting to establish running to the outside of RIBOT LEGEND, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of that horse which shifted out slightly. As the Stewards were of the opinion that GRAND DRAGON had not properly established running to the outside of RIBOT LEGEND at the relevant time, the protest/objection was overruled and the Judge’s placings confirmed. Near the 50 Metres, the whip of Apprentice M Chadwick was knocked from his hand by the whip of B Doyle (WINNING FELLOWSHIP). Over the concluding stages, GRAND DRAGON shifted out and brushed CARS KING PRAWN. Just prior to the finishing line, CARS KING PRAWN raced tight between AMAZING VENTURE and GRAND DRAGON which shifted out. In this incident, CARS KING PRAWN bumped AMAZING VENTURE which became unbalanced. Throughout the race, CHAMPION LAD travelled wide and without cover. RIBOT LEGEND and GRAND DRAGON were sent for sampling.
