On arrival at the Start, NORDIC STAR, which made contact with a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. As the start was effected, ACHILLES OF TROY bounded in the air and as a result lost ground. SOVIET PEARL was crowded for room at the start between KING ACRYLIC and EIGHT PLUS NINE which shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, ACHILLES OF TROY was steadied when crowded for room inside SOVIET PEARL which itself was racing tight inside ATHENIUM (J Victoire). A short distance later, SOVIET PEARL was steadied when ATHENIUM continued to shift in. J Victoire was reprimanded. SOVIET PEARL was held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, CHINA WIN and AMNESTY raced in restricted room between ALWAYS SOMETHING and EIGHT PLUS NINE, both of which shifted some ground. In the Straight, SUPER GENERAL got its head on the side and hung in and for some distance over the concluding stages was directed away from the heels of ACHILLES OF TROY which shifted out. Throughout the race, AMNESTY travelled wide and without cover. DANZULU and ALWAYS SOMETHING were sent for sampling.
