As the start was effected, QUICK TOUCH lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. ROMPING and POLYGOLD were slow to begin. After being slow to begin, ROMPING was ridden along to obtain a forward position and near the 1300 Metres was steadied away from the heels of SKYVIEW BAR. In the early stages, MASTER KEY proved difficult to settle and making the first turn got its head up on a number of occasions. After the 800 Metres, LEGEND was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, ROMPING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER PISTACHIO. IRISH JIG had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. PRESTO was held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres. Near the 150 Metres, QUICK TOUCH raced tight inside SKYVIEW BAR which was weakening. Y T Cheng (QUICK TOUCH) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out right to the end of the race where circumstances permit. A Gryder (SKYVIEW BAR) reported that in the early stages, when being restrained to obtain a position behind the leaders, SKYVIEW BAR proved difficult to settle. He said after allowing MASTER KEY to cross SKYVIEW BAR passing the 700 Metres, SKYVIEW BAR continued to prove difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASTER KEY. A veterinary inspection of SUPER PISTACHIO after the race did not show any significant findings. AMIGO and ROMPING were sent for sampling.
