Steward Report Predict Pace Map
DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, KING OF TURF, SPLENDID SAILS and GALLANT HUSSAR were all crowded for room at the start between HEAVENLY POWERS and KEEP GOING, both of which shifted ground. TOP SPEED, which was leaning against the inside of its stall, was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was checked along with TRIUMPHANT ECHO when crowded for room between OPTIC KING and LIGHTNING SUCCESS which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. When being steadied to obtain cover for some distance approaching the first turn, CHAIN WIN got its head up and proved very difficult to settle. Then making the first turn, CHAIN WIN again got its head up when racing tight between SPLENDID SAILS and SEIZE THE DAY which shifted in slightly. In this incident, CHAIN WIN lost ground. Near the 750 Metres, GLITTERING, which was reluctant to maintain its position inside SPLENDID SAILS, was checked after shifting out across the heels of that horse. After this, GLITTERING continued to hang out. DAYLIGHT EXPRESS, which was following GLITTERING, was obliged to steady off the heels of that horse in the middle stages. Then in the Straight, GLITTERING continued to get its head on the side and lay out and for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed near the heels of SPLENDID SAILS. Close to the finishing line, KING OF TURF attempted to savage SPLENDID SAILS. Trainer A Schutz was advised a warning would be placed on KING OF TURF in relation to its racing manners. Throughout the race, SEIZE THE DAY and OPTIC KING travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of KEEP GOING after the race revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils. HIGH NOTE, GALLANT HUSSAR and SEIZE THE DAY were sent for sampling.
