STALLION SUPREME was withdrawn on 30.4.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen head wound near poll) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOLD JOINT (O Doleuze). Before being allowed to race again, STALLION SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER GOLD CHAMP proved difficult to saddle. Trainer C Fownes, who was not present on course today, will be advised that a warning would be placed on SUPER GOAL CHAMP in relation to its pre-race manners. LUCKY SELECTION began awkwardly and lost ground. FLASHING GUY was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, SUPER GOAL CHAMP was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 800 Metres, FLASHING GUY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUPREME YEARS. JIMSON THE BEST, which was following, was steadied in consequence. In the early part of the Straight, RAINBOW SEEKER was held up for clear running behind SAMMY’S FALCON. Apprentice M L Yeung (SAMMY’S FALCON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RAINBOW SEEKER, resulting in that horse being checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. Apprentice Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 31 May 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 16 May 2010. Near the 150 Metres, SUPREME YEARS was bumped by LUCKY SELECTION which got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, SUPREME YEARS was checked when crowded for room between DARPANA and LUCKY SELECTION (B Doyle) which got its head on the side and shifted away from RAINBOW SEEKER which at this time was shifting to the outside of TELECOM SUPER STAR into clear running. B Doyle was reprimanded and advised that whilst LUCKY SELECTION was somewhat influenced by RAINBOW SEEKER, in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts. Near the 50 Metres, DARPANA was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPREME YEARS and FLASHING GUY. Throughout the race, TURF WINNER travelled wide and without cover. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SUPER GOAL CHAMP at the request of the trainer. The Veterinary Officer reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER GOAL CHAMP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TELECOM SUPER STAR and JIMSON THE BEST were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LUCKY SELECTION had lost its left front plate.
