THE WITCH’S BROOM was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, HARRY HARRY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When caught wide in the early stages, BULB TREASURE was shifted in behind runners to obtain cover passing the winning post on the first occasion. In the early stages, LUCKY NISTELROOY travelled wide and without cover and near the 1100 Metres was steadied to obtain a position with cover behind TAI HANG’S PRIDE. Passing the 200 Metres, B Doyle (THE WITCH’S BROOM) dropped his whip. D Whyte (KING AL AKBAR), H W Lai (TAI HANG’S PRIDE) and Z Purton (LUCKY NISTELROOY) reported that their mounts did not handle the prevailing track conditions. A veterinary inspection of TAI HANG’S PRIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. TOUT VA BIEN, THE WITCH’S BROOM and LUCKY AMICI were sent for sampling.
