FUN AND FAST was slow to begin. TURF WINNER began awkwardly. MILLION DARLING began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in BOYZ ROCK being hampered. From the outside barrier, OYSTER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start and then hung out in the middle stages. Shortly after the start, CLASSIC NAVIGATOR shifted in, resulting in WIN PET being hampered when crowded for room. For some distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres, K-JACK was steadied away from the heels of EVER BEAUTY. M Du Plessis, the rider of BOYZ ROCK, reported that the horse hung in throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of SHY BALDY after the race did not show any significant findings. EVER BEAUTY and MILLION DARLING were sent for sampling. After the race, WIN PET collapsed. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EVER BEAUTY had lost its right front plate.
