BOLD CHAMPION was withdrawn on 5.6.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GREAT FANTASY (C K Tong). Before being allowed to race again, BOLD CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NEW LEADER was slow to begin. Despite being ridden aggressively in the early stages, SAMMY’S FALCON was unable to muster speed and consequently raced back in the field. Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, MIGHTY FEELING got it head up when being checked out across the heels of MANY GAINS after being bumped by SHARP BOY which at this time got its head on the side and shifted out. THE KID, which was following MIGHTY FEELING, was steadied away from that horse in consequence. CHINA GOOD had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. MANY GAINS was unable to obtain clear running until near the 350 Metres. Passing the 350 Metres, NEW LEADER was shifted to the inside of MIGHTY FEELING to obtain clear running after being disappointed for clear running between that horse and LUCKY NISTELROOY, both of which shifted ground. B Doyle (CHINA GOOD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he directed his mount outwards when not clear of GREAT FANTASY, causing that horse to be taken out onto MANY GAINS, causing both GREAT FANTASY and MANY GAINS to be badly crowded, checked and lose the running to which they were rightfully entitled. When being checked, MANY GAINS made heavy contact with the hindquarters of CARISSIMA, causing that horse to become badly unbalanced. B Doyle was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 28 June 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Golden Jubilee Stakes racemeeting to be conducted at Royal Ascot, UK on Saturday, 19 June 2010. In addition, B Doyle was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. Close to the finishing line, CHINA GOOD and MIGHTY FEELING bumped due mainly to CHINA GOOD shifting out. LET ME HANDLE IT and ALL TIME HIGH were sent for sampling.
