FINEZZA was slow to begin. WASABISABI began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in HO HAPPY being crowded for room inside VICTORIA SMILE. Despite being ridden along vigorously in the early stages, PROJECT RUNWAY was slow to muster speed and consequently raced back in the field. Passing the 1000 Metres, FINEZZA got its head up and shifted out. FINEZZA then continued to prove difficult to settle and making the first turn again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of LUCKY FOLLOW ME. After this, FINEZZA continued to over-race. Passing the 800 Metres, PROJECT RUNWAY raced in restricted room inside LUCKY FOLLOW ME and then near the 700 Metres became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside LUCKY FOLLOW ME which was taken in slightly by EURO POWER. At the 300 Metres, NEW KING PRAWN got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of SUPREME DE UNION. Passing the 300 Metres, FINEZZA was inconvenienced by EURO POWER which shifted in. After this, FINEZZA was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EURO POWER. Close to the finishing line, PROJECT RUNWAY was shifted to the inside of SUPREME DE UNION to continue improving. For the majority of the race, both WASABISABI and GOOD PARTNER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GOOD PARTNER after the race revealed that the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of PROJECT RUNWAY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TREASURE GLITTER had lost its right hind plate. MY GLORY and SUPREME DE UNION were sent for sampling.
