NOBLE FLIER began very awkwardly, blundered and shifted out, resulting in THE ONLY KID being crowded for room inside RAIN OF THUNDER. VANQUISH DELIGHT began awkwardly. As the start was effected, BREAKING POINT lifted its front feet off the ground and then made contact with HANDSOME BATCHELOR shortly after the start. Rounding the Home Turn, GOLD RUSH, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of POWER DRIFTER when taken out by RAIN OF THUNDER which itself was taken out by ZEPHYRUS (N Callan). Then shortly after entering into the Straight, RAIN OF THUNDER was steadied when crowded for room between POWER DRIFTER and ZEPHYRUS which continued to shift out. N Callan was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for his fellow riders in similar circumstances. Near the 400 Metres, THE ONLY KID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOODVIEW SUCCESSOR when being shifted to the outside of that horse’s heels. Passing the 50 Metres, POWER DRIFTER shifted in and brushed ZEPHYRUS. Throughout the race, BREAKING POINT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of VANQUISH DELIGHT after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, VANQUISH DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GOLD RUSH after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. THE ONLY KID, POWER DRIFTER and ZEPHYRUS were sent for sampling.
