CHEVALIER KING was withdrawn on 25.12.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right front fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUPER BOY (D Beadman). Before being allowed to race again, CHEVALIER KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. UNION’S STAR was slow to begin. TRIUMPHANT COLOURS began awkwardly and made contact with the inside of its stall. After the race, it was noted that TRIUMPHANT COLOURS was marked and had a small laceration in the vicinity of the right flank. Near the 800 Metres, HONGKONG SUPERSTAR, which was over-racing and proving difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of GOLDEN BAUHINIA (W M Lai) which shifted out when not quite clear. W M Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Near the 600 Metres, EL ZONDA got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied when racing to the outside of the heels of GOLDEN BAUHINIA which was shifting out. Also near the 600 Metres, TOUCH GO was steadied when racing in restricted room between EL ZONDA and HONGKONG SUPERSTAR which got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINE WIN. TOUCH GO was held up for clear running until near the 300 Metres at which time the horse was shifted in to obtain clear running. A veterinary inspection of EL ZONDA and TOUCH GO after the race did not show any significant findings. TRIUMPHANT COLOURS, HAPPY PRESTIGE and SUPER BOY were sent for sampling.
