VANQUISH DELIGHT was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, VANQUISH DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. I SMELL MONEY was slow to begin. JUST GOOD shifted out at the start, resulting in CHEERFUL DELIGHTS being crowded out across the heels of HIGH RETURN. From the outside barrier, LUCKY CHEVALIER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When the tempo steadied making the first turn, FIERCE, FISHKING GLORY and LUCKY CHEVALIER proved difficult to settle. LUCKY CHEVALIER was not able to obtain clear running until near the 300 Metres. Throughout the race, SCENT OF OSMANTHUS and ENJOY THE FUN travelled wide and without cover. Y T Cheng (HIGH RETURN) explained that he had been instructed to position the horse in 3rd of 4th if possible. He said HIGH RETURN began well, he immediately observed JUST GOOD being vigorously ridden to his inside to obtain a forward position, therefore he elected to steady HIGH RETURN in order to attempt to obtain a position behind JUST GOOD. He said however that KING OF FISH II improved its position to trail JUST GOOD, for this reason he was not able to shift in on HIGH RETURN and consequently was left racing without cover for the remainder of the race. A veterinary inspection of FISHKING GLORY after the race did not show any significant findings. I SMELL MONEY and ROMANCING TAMAR were sent for sampling.
