On arrival at the barriers, the tongue tie carried by SONOFTHEWEST was replaced. WINNING STRATEGY began awkwardly. At the start, SONOFTHEWEST and INCREDIBLE EAGLE bumped. Shortly after the start, FULL PACK shifted in and bumped LUCKY AMICI. From the outside barrier, COVER BOY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1300 Metres, GRAND GENERAL was left racing wide and without cover when LUCKY EMPEROR shifted away from the running rail. After this, GRAND GENERAL was allowed to improve into a more forward position. Passing the 1100 Metres and again near the 1000 Metres, BULB TREASURE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SONOFTHEWEST. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, JOYFUL YEARS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GALLANT GALLOP. Near the 500 Metres, JOYFUL YEARS was momentarily crowded for room inside the hindquarters of LUCKY AMICI. Shortly after entering into the Straight, FULL PACK and JOYFUL YEARS bumped, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Near the 200 Metres, COVER BOY was inconvenienced by INCREDIBLE EAGLE which shifted out. LUCKY EMPEROR, GRAND GENERAL and INCREDIBLE EAGLE were sent for sampling.
