PRECISION MAGIC, which kicked a rail whilst being saddled, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that NEW VISION had dislodged a tooth. NEW VISION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Near the 900 Metres, FOREST STAR became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NICE FOLKS. Near the 700 Metres, MAJESTIC HEART was checked away from the heels of PRECISION MAGIC. At the 500 Metres, FOREST STAR was momentarily crowded for room between LOMBARDI and SADDLERS LODGE which was taken out slightly by AMITYSHIP. For the majority of the race, LOMBARDI travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FOREST STAR, J Lloyd stated that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo of today’s race. He said when the field sprinted rounding the Home Turn, FOREST STAR was not able to improve its position as at this time it was racing in restricted room between SADDLERS LODGE and LOMBARDI. He added, in his opinion, the performance of FOREST STAR could be largely attributed to the tempo of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of FOREST STAR after the race revealed that the horse was a “roarer”. NICE FOLKS and NEW VISION were sent for sampling.
