SUNNY SKY was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 Metres, MIGHTY FEELING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALWAYS WELL. After the 900 Metres, both SCENT OF OSMANTHUS and CAGA BOY were left racing wide and without cover. After the 400 Metres, PANNA shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOYFUL JOYFUL and made contact with the hindquarters of ALWAYS WELL. For some distance after this, PANNA was held up for clear running behind JOYFUL JOYFUL. Then over the final 100 Metres, PANNA had difficulty obtaining clear running. D Beadman (PANNA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of MIGHTY FEELING which as a result was taken out onto CONFUCIUS CLASSIC, causing CONFUCIUS CLASSIC to be taken out across the heels of REAL GENERAL and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. D Beadman was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 19 May 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Tuesday, 10 May 2011. In addition, D Beadman was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. STAR OF CHIU TON had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUNNY SKY had sustained cuts to the left hind cannon and had lost its left hind plate and that REAL GENERAL had lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of ALWAYS WELL after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of PANNA after the race did not show any significant findings. REAL GENERAL, SCENT OF OSMANTHUS and BREEZE OF LUCK were sent for sampling.
