After being loaded, SICHUAN LEGEND became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, SICHUAN LEGEND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SICHUAN LEGEND then began awkwardly. PIZZAZZ blundered at the start. ELEGANCE KLAMMER was crowded for room at the start between FLYING SUPREME and EMPEROR CLAUDIUS which was taken out by PIZZAZZ. In this incident, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS was also steadied away from the heels of FLYING SUPREME. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, THE UNTOUCHABLELAD failed to muster speed. Near the 1100 Metres, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS was steadied away from the heels of FLYING SUPREME (C K Tong) which shifted in when not properly clear. C K Tong was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Approaching the 1000 Metres, WINNING EDGE raced tight between EMPEROR CLAUDIUS and DANZULU which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of INDIGO WAY. Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, WINNING EDGE and DANZULU bumped. After the 400 Metres, PIZZAZZ was steadied and shifted to the outside of BERIO after racing in restricted room inside that horse which got its head on the side and shifted in away from NATIONAL TREASURE which itself shifted in. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, ELEGANCE KLAMMER had difficulty obtaining clear running. When questioned, J Lloyd (SICHUAN LEGEND) stated that he rode his mount along in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 200 Metres shifted SICHUAN LEGEND to the outside of runners to obtain clear running. He said when he did this, he transferred his whip from his right hand into his left hand. He said before he could use the whip on SICHUAN LEGEND, he was not able to do so due to the whip being caught on the neck of DANZULU which was racing tight to his outside. NATIONAL TREASURE and PENGLAI XIANZI were sent for sampling.
