On arrival at the Start, DECENT FELLOW had its left front plate reset. DECENT FELLOW was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. MEDIC FORTUNE began awkwardly. WINNING MASCOT was slow to begin. FIERCE FORCE, which was slow to begin, was checked at the start when crowded for room between FERRABOSCO and LUCKY EMPEROR which shifted out. LUCKY EMPEROR then became unbalanced after making contact with FERRABOSCO. For some distance approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, PINOT NOIR got its head up and raced ungenerously when being checked away from the heels of BINGO KEY. Approaching the 1200 Metres, WINNING MASCOT got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUNNY SMILES. Then passing the 1100 Metres, WINNING MASCOT was steadied after improving into tight running inside SUNNY SMILES. Near the 700 Metres, SPEED RACER got its head on the side and hung out after being brushed by COVER BOY. SPEED RACER continued to hang out making the Home Turn and then in the Straight when placed under pressure hung out and proved difficult to ride. Before being allowed to race again, SPEED RACER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. PINOT NOIR hung out rounding the Home Turn. Over the final 200 Metres, GRANDWAY FLYER got its head on the side and hung in. A veterinary inspection of SPEED RACER after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING MASCOT, FERRABOSCO and SUNNY SMILES were sent for sampling.
