Steward Report Predict Pace Map
MEDIC CHAMPION began only fairly and then, despite being ridden along, failed to muster speed. SMART GUY was bumped at the start by SPICY SIAM which in turn was bumped by SABINA. Near the 850 Metres, SABINA was left racing wide and without cover. After the 600 Metres, DANESOUTH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE FLIER. When questioned regarding the improved performance of NAMJONG TURBO, Trainer B K Ng stated that after its most recent start when ridden by Jockey T Berry, that rider recommended that he remove the blinkers from the horse as NAMJONG TURBO had travelled too keenly with that piece of gear applied. He said he had altered the horse’s track work slightly in the lead up to today’s race to try and have it more relaxed in this race. He said with the light weight and being able to race in the lead on today’s track together with the removal of the blinkers were all factors for the horse’s improved performance. When questioned, Y T Cheng advised that he had been given identical instructions to those he was given last start when riding SMART GUY and that was to have the horse in about 5th or 6th position with cover if possible. He said at its last start SMART GUY drew much better than today and after beginning well from barrier 11 in this race, he commenced to shift over with the field in the early stages. He said after the 1600 Metres he steadied SMART GUY with a view to obtaining a position with cover behind DANESOUTH, however, DANESOUTH itself was steadied at this time and he was not able to shift the horse in to obtain cover. He said rather than remain racing in a three wide position without cover, he elected, after the 1200 Metres, to allow SMART GUY to stride forward and obtain a position closer to the rail but further forward in the race than had been intended. A veterinary inspection of SMART GUY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of MEGA POSH showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MEGA POSH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DANESOUTH, NAMJONG TURBO and SUNSEEKER were sent for sampling. <17/6/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of MEGA POSH showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The Veterinary Officer further reported that MEGA POSH was found to be lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. As previously advised, MEGA POSH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
