Apprentice C Wong (BULB ELITE) was fined the sum of $2,000 for presenting himself to weight out for this race in the incorrect colours. PERFECT HARMONY was bumped by MISSION SMART on jumping which was taken out by LIGHTNING STEED. BULB ELITE and MOON PEAKS bumped at the start, causing both horses to become unbalanced. BULB ELITE was then steadied after being crowded for room a short distance later between MOON PEAKS and METHANE which shifted in. INCANTO PREPARED shifted out at the start, resulting in AFTER ME being crowded for room inside POLYMER LUCK which on jumping bumped with REGENCY GEM. After this, from wide barriers, INCANTO PREPARED and AFTER ME were steadied to obtain cover. POLYMER LUCK travelled wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres. Between the 900 Metres and the 800 Metres, STARLIT KNIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MOON PEAKS. Near the 550 Metres, STARLIT KNIGHT was checked away from the heels of MOON PEAKS which commenced to come under pressure. This resulted in STARLIT KNIGHT shifting in approaching the 500 Metres and momentarily crowding the racing room of MISSION SMART which was hampered. Passing the 400 Metres, MISSION SMART was awkwardly placed behind STARLIT KNIGHT. Passing the 200 Metres, METHANE shifted out towards AFTER ME, resulting in its rider having to correct METHANE. Throughout the race, REGENCY GEM travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. LIGHTNING STEED, AFTER ME and EPTIWINS were sent for sampling.
