GOLDEN LINK shifted out at the start and bumped PRECISE EXPRESS.
LEADING FORTUNE lost its right front plate on jumping.
In the early stages, ULTRA EXPRESS and BORN THE SAME DAY were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
ROYAL BOMB was also steadied in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail.
Passing the 1300 Metres, PRECISE EXPRESS got its head on the side and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN LINK.
Passing the 200 Metres, ULTRA EXPRESS was shifted out a number of horses to continue improving.
At the 150 Metres, LEADING FORTUNE shifted in and bumped GOLDEN LINK, resulting in the rider of LEADING FORTUNE having to stop riding and straighten his mount. After being bumped by LEADING FORTUNE, GOLDEN LINK shifted in and brushed MY ECSTATIC.
After the race, J Moreira stated that although PRECISE EXPRESS was left racing wide and without cover after the 1000 Metres, he was of the opinion that this did not explain the horse’s disappointing performance as PRECISE EXPRESS came under pressure prior to the 600 Metres to hold its position. He said after the 600 Metres he had to ride his mount along vigorously to maintain its position and in an attempt to prevent LEADING FORTUNE from being able to shift out to the inside of PRECISE EXPRESS. He added that despite being ridden along PRECISE EXPRESS would not respond to his riding and was taken wider by LEADING FORTUNE near the 500 Metres as that horse improved to the outside of runners. He said he continued to ride PRECISE EXPRESS along, however, the horse would not respond to his riding and then in the Straight was very disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of PRECISE EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PRECISE EXPRESS, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PRECISE EXPRESS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PRECISE EXPRESS, CHARITY GRACE and ROYAL BOMB were sent for sampling.
