L Ferraris (SHINY TWO) was fined the sum of $2,000 for being late to the Parade Ring. MURRAY’S PARTNERS and FLYING MIGHTY both jumped only fairly. STAR OF YUEN LONG, which was leaning on the right side of its barrier, jumped awkwardly. From the outside barriers, SUPERB DADDY, SPLENDID STAR and JOY MASTER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. ANGELS HUNTER raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 1400 Metres when being steadied to allow STAR OF YUEN LONG to cross got its head up and lost ground. SHINY TWO, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of ANGELS HUNTER as a consequence. Approaching the 400 Metres, ANGELS HUNTER shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with BALLISTIC MAN which was taken wider. SHINY TWO, which was positioned to the outside of BALLISTIC MAN, was also hampered and taken wider. After the race, H Bowman stated that STAR OF YUEN LONG travelled comfortably with cover in the early stages and after initially responding to his urgings on straightening went to the line only fairly. A veterinary inspection of STAR OF YUEN LONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FLYING MIGHTY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of DAILY BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STAR OF YUEN LONG, STAR OF GLORY and MURRAY’S PARTNERS were sent for sampling.
