C K Tong (TELECOM EMPEROR) was fined $2,000 for initially weighing out with his number cloth included in his weight. After being boxed, TELECOM EMPEROR became very fractious and reared on two occasions, dislodging C K Tong. TELECOM EMPEROR was slow to begin, then in the Straight tailed out. Both the barrier manners and the performance of TELECOM EMPEROR were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM EMPEROR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JOYFUL WORLD proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL WORLD will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, MULLAAD stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground. REAL SPECIAL began awkwardly, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, MEDALLION got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CASH MONEY. MEDALLION then hung out making the turn at the 800 Metres and carried EXPEDITIOUS wider. Z Purton (MEDALLION) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said when MEDALLION performed well first up, it was in a 1200 Metre race and the horse travelled in a rearward position. He said today with the increase in distance to 1400 Metres he was able to obtain a more forward position on MEDALLION, however, because of this the horse travelled keenly and raced ungenerously in the middle stages. He said in the Straight MEDALLION failed to respond to his riding. He said in his opinion at this stage of its career MEDALLION may be better suited being run in races of a faster tempo. MEDALLION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. TELECOM EMPEROR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MEDALLION and TELECOM EMPEROR after the race did not show any significant findings. SAVUTE and MOSHI MOSHI were sent for sampling.
