On jumping, MAN IN THE MIRROR and FELLOWSHIP bumped. At the 1700 Metres, MELLIFLUOUS was steadied when crowded for room between MAN IN THE MIRROR and VIVA HONG KONG. After this, MELLIFLUOUS proved difficult to settle. From the outside barrier, FLYING TAMARI was taken across behind runners in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. In the early stages, JACKPOT DELIGHT was taken back to a position with cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MAN IN THE MIRROR, which had been proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of SIR GALAHAD which at this time was steadied away from the heels of INFINITE DELIGHT which in turn was steadied away from the heels of ALBERTINELLI. When MAN IN THE MIRROR steadied, it shifted out and caused inconvenience to VIVA HONG KONG and VISIONARIO, both of which were hampered and carried wider. MELLIFLUOUS and DASH AHEAD, which were following, were steadied in consequence. At the 800 Metres, FELLOWSHIP was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DORDENMA. Near the 600 Metres, MAN IN THE MIRROR became unbalanced when bumped by VIVA HONG KONG. Shortly after entering the Home Straight, JACKPOT DELIGHT was shifted towards the inside of DORDENMA in an attempt to find clear running. After the 400 Metres, JACKPOT DELIGHT was steadied when disappointed for running on the inside of DORDENMA which at this time shifted in. JACKPOT DELIGHT was then shifted out in an endeavour to improve between DORDENMA and FELLOWSHIP. After the 300 Metres, JACKPOT DELIGHT was again steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between FELLOWSHIP which shifted in slightly and DORDENMA which shifted out. Over the concluding stages, SIR GALAHAD hung in. D Beadman (VIVA HONG KONG) said after the horse was hampered near the 800 Metres, it did not feel comfortable in its action. He said in the Straight he rode VIVA HONG KONG out and whilst the horse was making ground it was not finishing the race off strongly. He said because of this after the 100 Metres he put the whip away and continued to ride his mount out hands and heels before drawing the whip again just prior to the winning post. D Beadman was told to ensure horses ridden by him are fully tested. MELLIFLUOUS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MELLIFLUOUS after the race did not show any significant findings. FELLOWSHIP and JACKPOT DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
