NOBLE HEART was slow into stride. KING OF TURF was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, SING FAY FAY was taken across behind runners in the early stages. In the early and middle stages, UNIQUE JEWELLERY proved difficult to settle. At the 1100 Metres, KENOBE became unbalanced. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, MEDICO and JAMESINA raced tight as a result of JAMESINA going forward and endeavouring to shift in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUPER SNIPPETS, which had been proving difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of UNIQUE JEWELLERY. Apprentice C W Wong (WONDERFUL BLESSING) explained he had been instructed not to ride the horse along in the early stages, endeavour to ensure his mount was relaxed and positioned midfield if possible. He said he had been advised in the past WONDERFUL BLESSING had shown on occasions a tendency to over-race when ridden along in the early stages and as a consequence was not able to finish its races off. He said at the start WONDERFUL BLESSING got its head up as a result of him taking hold of his mount in an endeavour to ensure it did not travel too keenly. He said however when runners from the outside took time to come across, WONDERFUL BLESSING commenced to over-race and proved difficult for him to settle. He said as a consequence of this WONDERFUL BLESSING travelled in a forward position and did not relax until after the 1200 Metres when crossed by DR WELL. He said as a consequence of the manner in which WONDERFUL BLESSING travelled in the early stages of the race the horse failed to close the race off. KENOBE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KENOBE after the race did not show any significant findings. BOUNCER, UNIQUE JEWELLERY and JAMESINA were sent for sampling.
